Our Mission

Our founder, Alexander Francis, was once the sole caretaker of the cats in one of Phnom Penh’s pagodas. After nine months of independently feeding, rescuing, and nursing these cats, he decided to reach out to recruit other members.

The group has since expanded to over 17 members, each volunteering their time to care for these wonderful cats in any way they can. We have grown a small network of fosters and, with the support of Animal Mama, have been able to take in and save countless lives.

Cats In Need is not a traditional shelter. We rely on fosters and various boarding facilities (paid for by our generous donors) to keep vulnerable cats and kittens off the street. Our current goal is to provide care and loving homes to as many cats as possible, and to engage in regular trap, neuter, release (TNR) missions with Animal Mama to keep the population of our pagoda low.
